Meta Tag Generator – Free Online Tool

Generate SEO-friendly meta tags including Open Graph and Twitter Card tags.

How to Generate Meta Tags

  1. Fill in the basics: Page title, meta description and canonical URL are the fields that matter most for search.
  2. Add a social image: Point the image field at an absolute URL, ideally 1200 x 630 pixels, so links preview well.
  3. Set the robots directive: Leave it on index, follow for normal pages; switch to noindex for staging or thank-you pages.
  4. Copy into your head: Click Generate, copy the block, and paste it inside the <head> of your page.

Why Use This Tool?

  • Covers all three sets: Standard SEO tags, Open Graph for Facebook and LinkedIn, and Twitter Card tags in one block.
  • Properly escaped: Ampersands, quotes and angle brackets in your titles are escaped so the markup cannot break.
  • No sign-up: Generate as many tag blocks as you like without an account.
  • Nothing recorded: Your URLs and descriptions are processed in the browser and never logged.

Common Use Cases

  • Set up head tags for a new landing page
  • Add Open Graph tags so shared links show a title, description and image
  • Produce a consistent tag block for every page of a small site
  • Mark a staging or internal page noindex before it goes live
  • Fix a page that shows a bare URL when it is shared in chat

Good to Know

  • Keep titles at roughly 60 characters and descriptions at roughly 155 so search engines do not truncate them.
  • The og:image URL must be absolute, including https://, or social networks will not fetch it.
  • A canonical tag should point at the preferred version of the page, not at your homepage.

Frequently Asked Questions

The title tag and meta description are what search engines display in results, and the canonical link tells them which URL to index. Open Graph and Twitter Card tags do not affect ranking directly but control how your links look when shared, which affects click-through.

1200 x 630 pixels is the widely supported size and gives a large preview card on Facebook, LinkedIn and X. Use an absolute URL and keep the file under about 5 MB.

X falls back to Open Graph tags when Twitter Card tags are missing, so you can get by with Open Graph alone. Including both gives you explicit control over the card type.
